All of you know my mom, Maggie. Probably one of the most amazing individuals on the planet and the best soul I know. SOME of you know the hell she and the rest of my family have been through the past two years, some of you may not. My mom doesn’t make it a habit to air the dirty family laundry but frankly to know why I need you help it’s a little necessary to know what has happened. 
My mom struggles with many health issues, both mentally and physically. Her rheumatoid arthritis is severe and she also has dental problems that are so painful she can’t talk some days. Because of these and several other disabling problems she has been on disability for a few years now and unable to work. She depended on my dad for income and financial support. However, two years ago it was unceremoniously revealed to her and us that he had not only been sleeping with a married woman for two years but that he was leaving her. After over a year of legal back and forth and cruelty that racked my moms health it was decided in court that she would retain the house they shared together but only if she didn’t attempt to get spousal support. Keeping the house was nice but almost a slap in the face considering it is in shambles and falling apart to the point of being hazardous to live in. My father promised me he would help my mom when he left because it was the one thing I was the most worried about. He has not spoken to her once or attempted to reach out and make sure his once wife of almost thirty years and the mother of his children was alive and able to take care of herself. Now she is barely surviving on a few hundred dollars a month from her disability checks. She obviously can’t afford the repairs to make the house liveable, let alone paying to get her teeth fixed. If it wasn’t for generous friends and family who have helped over and over again she wouldn’t even have food to eat. Her car windshield is completely shattered and not driveable and she can’t afford to fix this, either. 
   The reason I ask for your help now is this. It has gotten to the point where my mom is so behind on her bills that everything is off. The power, her gas, everything. My husband and I send everything we can but it is never enough to help the way I want and the way she deserves. We have tried countless government aid agencies with no success. In an ideal world I would want to raise enough money to fix her teeth, the house, her car, and pay her bills up current but that would be in the tens of thousands and I am trying to be realistic. The amount I am trying to raise would be enough to get her bills current and put some food in her cabinets.  
   There has not been a single person who has come to me about my mom and ever said anything other than that she was an amazing woman.  And she is. She is an amazing woman that the world just keeps dumping bad things on and she deserves to not stress, even if it’s just for a while, about money. Please consider sending a few dollars so I can get my mom back on her feet and straightened out from the hell she has had to go through. I would also like to thank her brothers, sisters, and friends for already doing so much for her. I don’t know what kind of situation we would be in now if not for them.
