Madison Wisconsin Homeless Union food distribution

Hello. We’re the Madison Wisconsin Homeless Union. We are a group of homeless and formerly homeless individuals and other community members advocating for the homeless community in Madison and meeting their needs. This includes hosting free food distribution every Friday at the top of State Street. We serve hot meals and provide other essentials like seasonal clothing, hand warmers, personal hygiene & menstruation products, non perishable food, and more. This winter, despite the frigid weather, we’ve served meals to 15-20 people every Friday and want to reach many more.

The heart behind MWHU food distribution is Uly, who has been distributing food to the homeless for a year. Uly buys the ingredients and other essentials, plans a menu, and cooks the meals each week. Without his time, labor, money and passion, many would be going without a warm meal on Fridays. As homelessness and hunger continue to rise in Madison and around the country, community based care is desperately needed. Help Uly and the MWHU continue this essential community care.
