CRITICAL: Protecting Our Newly Paved Road

Neighbors of Maderal and Dulce Nombre,

Thanks to everyone’s support, Maderal Road is now the best it has ever been. It’s a huge achievement for our community.

But the first rains have made something very clear: our work is not finished.

If water gets under the edges of the pavement, it will erode the base and create voids. In a short time, this can cause sections of the road to collapse—undoing all the effort and investment we’ve made.

The solution is simple: we need to install gutters to manage the water flow and protect the pavement.

Our Development Association and Road Committee have worked with the Municipality, and they have generously agreed to provide concrete for 300 meters of gutters—if we can fund the labor, just as we did with the paving.

We have a quote of ₡10,375 (about $23) per meter.

IMPORTANTE: Proteger nuestro Nuevo Pavimento

Gracias al apoyo de todos, Calle Maderal está mejor que nunca. Es un gran logro para nuestra comunidad.

Pero las primeras lluvias han dejado algo claro: el trabajo aún no está completo.

Si el agua se mete por debajo de los bordes del pavimento, va a erosionar la base y crear huecos. En poco tiempo, eso puede provocar que el pavimento colapse y se pierda todo el esfuerzo y la inversión que ya hicimos.

La solución es sencilla: necesitamos construir cunetas para manejar el agua y proteger la carretera.

Nuestra Asociación de Desarrollo y el Comité de Caminos hablaron con la Municipalidad, y ellos generosamente ofrecen el concreto para 300 metros de cunetas, si nosotros cubrimos la mano de obra, igual que hicimos con el pavimentado.

El costo de la mano de obra es de ₡10.375 (aprox. $23) por metro.
