Maddy’s 5k a day in January

Donation protected
In November our very close friends and their daughters got some devastating news, they’re daughter Megan was diagnosed with Aplastic anaemia, a rare and serious blood disorder that occurs when the bone marrow fails to produce enough healthy blood cells. This leaves the body with a deficiency of all three types of blood cells: red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets. Megan now needs a bone marrow transplant. In the weeks since her diagnosis she has had numerous trips and overnight stays to Sheffield children’s hospital having many tests and weekly blood transfusions, she has shown such courage and strength throughout this and is an inspiration to us all.

Amazingly, her sister Lucy is going to be her bone marrow donor, and they are hoping this will be happen at the end of January. Megan will have to have a long stay in hospital after to recover. Both girls are being so brave and we love them lots.

Maddy has set herself a challenge for January to run or walk 5k every day in January, Megan and Lucy are two of her best friends and she wanted to show them she’s thinking of them both, as are we all.

All money raised will be sent to the family so once Megan is out of hospital they can have some fun days out as a family, so any donations to sponsor Maddy, no matter how small will be amazing.

Maddy will be recording all her runs / walks on her garmin watch and uploading them on her strava account. She has done her first 5k run today (1st Jan) and she did brilliantly.
