My name is Venesha Sidibe. I am a mother, a wife, and a proud Jamaican. As we all know, Hurricane Melissa has made its mark as one of the most catastrophic hurricanes in history to affect Jamaica. Lives were lost, the country is in disarray, and thousands of people are without food and shelter for days now. Hospitals, schools, public institutions, cities, towns, and small communities have been totally washed away by this hurricane. People are crying out for help, and I cannot turn a deaf ear. Donations will go towards buying food, clothes, and toiletries. I feel the pain and the loss of my people.
While aid is on its way to Jamaica by various groups, platforms, and countries, I feel obligated to do my part. As a simple woman and a mother, it's heartbreaking to learn about the impact this disaster has on the children, and it's very hard to sit idly aside and do nothing. In a better circumstance, I would have given all that I have to all those in need. So it dawned on me what I could do to help, and that's when the Madame Sidibe Foundation was born.
The foundation is a non-profit and solely focused on the help and relief of people in need. We will be packing barrels of food and essentials to send to Jamaica, where they will be parceled out and distributed without bias or favor. We are starting off small with the ambitions of a grander scale. For now, we want to focus on one community at a time. Together we can make a difference with whatever you can give, no matter how small it is. Your help is highly appreciated, and on behalf of the people of Jamaica, thank you for your help, the prayers, and well wishes. Together we will rebuild better than before. Stay blessed, and may God continue to do so.
If anyone wishes to donate items instead of funds, please reach out to me directly.
