Throughout my life I have watched, and continue to watch, friends, family of friends, acquaintances and millions more I don't know - especially friends and people of color - remain imprisoned, await imprisonment, or now struggle with a life marred by former imprisonment - for cannabis and other drug related offenses. The same and similar offenses, many not nearly as severe, as my own offenses that were expunged after drug classes.
These people, along with so many more, now sit unfairly, idly, uncomfortably, powerlessly miserable behind bars. The injustices and inhumane policies birthed by the imaginary "War on Drugs" is a travesty and a crime against humanity. No human should be imprisoned on behalf of Cannabis, something that is now legal. No one. Marginalized or not.
Want to join me in making a difference? I'm raising money to benefit The Last Prisoner Project, and any donation will help make an impact. Thanks in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to me.
More information about The Last Prisoner Project: Imagine sitting in a cell for years, decades, or even for life, convicted of an activity that is no longer a crime, while thousands of other people build intergenerational wealth doing exactly the same thing. That is the situation that over 40,000 cannabis prisoners face today in the United States alone, while countless others languish in jails and prisons worldwide. The Last Prisoner Project is a coalition of cannabis industry leaders, executives, and artists dedicated to bringing restorative justice to the cannabis industry. Through intervention, advocacy, and awareness campaigns the Last Prisoner Project will work to redress the past and continuing harms of these unjust laws and policies.
