MACP FROM THE DARK INTO LIGHT 5KM WALK
Mid-Ulster Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (MACP)
FROM THE DARK INTO LIGHT
Hi Everyone,
We are truly blessed to have an organisation like the Mid-Ulster Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (MACP), based in Coalisland, right in the heart of Mid-Ulster.
When it comes to supporting those who feel suicidal, or those grieving the loss of a loved one to suicide, we know how urgently that support is needed.
We firmly believe that any individual or family facing such circumstances should be able to access support locally, quickly, confidentially, and free of charge. This should be a basic human right.
All of our student counsellors provide counselling services completely free of charge, giving up their own time, travelling at their own expense, and standing by their clients throughout their journey.
We also have fully qualified, accredited practitioners who offer support for more complex needs, including suicide and severe self-harm.
WE NEED YOUR HELP, SUPPORT AND PARTICIPATION
On Saturday 10th May 2025, we invite counsellors, clients, former clients, the general public and local GAA clubs to join us for our very first:
FROM THE DARK INTO LIGHT
Meeting Point: Fianna GAA Club, Coalisland
Gathering Time: 5:00 AM
5KM Walk Begins: 5:10 AM
Sunrise: 5:30 AM
Finished destination: Fianna GAA Club, Coalisland
After the walk, tea, coffee and scones will be available at the Fianna GAA Club.
We will also have counsellors available on the morning to provide free counselling and psychotherapy in our brand-new, state-of-the-art counselling facilities just across the road.
Please come along!
If you can donate, that would be fantastic - but if not, your presence alone will be a powerful demonstration of compassion, care and support for those who are most vulnerable.
Accessibility:
If you have an disability and would like to participate, transportation can be arranged for the short journey - your presence is equally welcomed and valued.
Please park at the Fianna GAA club.
Safety:
1. The walk will take place on footpaths. There are two crossing points: 1) at the bottom of Annagher Hill, Coalisland, and 2) at the crossroads at the top of the Stewartstown Road, Coalisland. Stewards from MACP will assist everyone to cross over these two main roads safely.
2. Please wear a hi-vis vest
3. A 5km walk to some will be a doddle, but to others, it may be quite tough. So, wear comfortable footwear and take as much time as you need to complete the walk.
4. MACP stewards will be at the front and back of the group to help in any way that may be needed.
5. In the unlikely event that medical help is needed, a first aider will also be present and clearly identifiable.
No registration required - just turn up!
We would be so grateful if everyone reading this could share this message as widely as possible.
Whether you contribute financially, show support by participating, share this post, or simply spread the word - you are making a real difference.
