Hi, some of you are aware of the devastating news that was posted by Mac Mclaren yesterday.
Mac has been fighting cancer for a second time, but unfortunately on October 8th 2025 he was told that he cannot beat it this time and has been given a very short prognosis.
So Stu Byng and I spoke and agreed to get a team of his former teammates or players he has coached together to give him the opportunity to coach and blow his referees whistle one last time with those he enjoyed so much success with over the years, I reached out to Julian Workman of Redditch Borough FC where Mac coached both junior teams and with the first team for a season who was extremely helpful offering to provide a team of coaches who worked with Mac to play against as well as the venue for this Testimonial.
A bit about why I want to do this, I first met Mac 14 years ago when he joined the Golden Cross FC team who I was managing at the time, and Mac showed his true Scottish spirit which every tackle and header he made that season. The following season we became NWCFC where Mac made a few appearances for us before turning his attention to coaching and putting his full focus on that.
We have stayed in touch over the years, and he has coached against me Refereed games for me, but most importantly has tried to help whenever he could no matter what.
He has always shown a heart of gold, and will ne forever remembered by everyone he has ever worked with within football in and around Redditch.
This match is dedicated to him so that we can all say Thnak You.
