Holiday Packages for the Homeless
Donation protected
Every year, we raise funds to create Holiday Gift Packages for our neighbors in the DC metropolitan area who are experiencing homelessness. The packages include some combination of socks, gloves, hats, toiletries, first aid items, and, this year, items such as puzzle books and playing cards to help with the additional isolation brought on by COVID-19. The packages are distributed to shelters and other organizations serving the homeless community through the EDC Jewish Community Center's D25 Day of Service. We appreciate any support you can provide; even a $5.00 donation could make a difference in the life of somebody who may receive no other gift this holiday season. Every penny you donate will be used to support the purchase of items for the holiday packages--this effort is entirely volunteer run, and we cover the cost of any overhead ourselves. It has been a challenging year for everyone, but with your help we can spread some holiday cheer to those who have been particularly hard hit.
****We have already raised $3700 through the EDCJCC website for this effort. We are hoping to raise the remainder of what we need for the 935 packages we have already committed to (~$1,000) through this GoFundMe campaign. Any additional funds will go toward producing additional packages or purchasing additional items; the true need is much greater than 935 packages, and we try to reach as many people as we can.
