Silent Steps
Around 1,000 miles. 10 weeks. 1 Deaf woman. No more silent barriers.
“I am going to be the first Deaf woman to walk from John O’Groats to Land’s End independently.
I am doing this walk to challenge myself, to inspire others, and most importantly, to make a real difference.
I am walking to raise awareness and support a Deaf SignHealth. Your donations will also help cover some of the costs for fuel and the hired van needed for the journey
Every step is about breaking barriers — especially in healthcare — for Deaf people.
When I am tired or in pain, this purpose is what will keep me going.”

The Challenge – Silent Steps
On 1 May 2026, I will begin a over 1,000-mile walk from John O’Groats in Scotland to Land’s End in Cornwall.
The journey will take approximately 10 weeks to complete.
I have named this challenge Silent Steps.
I am walking so that the barriers faced by Deaf people are no longer ignored.
I am walking to show that Deaf people will not be silenced.
For safety and wellbeing, Chris Probert will act as my support driver throughout the journey. The project will also include filming, marketing, and press coverage, helping ensure that these Silent Steps are seen and heard across the UK.

Why Does Silent Steps Matter?
Every day, Deaf people face barriers — especially in healthcare.
These include:
• Missed or misunderstood appointments
• Delayed diagnosis
• Limited access to mental health support
• Lack of interpreters and accessible information
Deaf people are being harmed — and in some cases dying — because healthcare is not accessible.
These barriers cause isolation, inequality, and long-term harm.
Silent Steps is more than a challenge.
It is a statement.
It is about visibility.
It is about equality.
It is about empowerment.
This is not about one person.
It is about you.
It is about the Deaf community — now and in the future.
