Support the Corkscrew Rail Trail

Rail trail fans, you did it!

The Corkscrew Rail Trail won the Lover's Lane rail bed property at auction on February 28!

There were eight bids on the property, but the Corkscrew had the power of all of you behind them.  With the addition of some private donors too, there were an amazing 76 donations made to secure this property for the rail trail.  That's a tremendous outpouring of community support for which we are so very grateful.

Before too long it will be possible to walk and bike the old Rutland Rail bed, along 3.14 acres through the middle of town, along a wooded stream.  We can't wait!  And we hope that you will stay involved with us and help see this vital piece of the rail trail come to life in New Lebanon.  For more information, please see the Corkscrew Rail trail website or reach out to Joe Ogilvie, whose contact information is up on this site.

If you would like to continue to donate to the cleanup and preparation of this piece of the rail trail, please do--  we'd love your help.  The closing for the property will happen within the next thirty days.  Then we have a challenge ahead of us to fund the clearing of the trail, which will need some heavy equipment, some significant debris removal, and some serious volunteer love!

But the important thing to celebrate today is that the rail trail that was so badly wanted by this community is now going to be a reality in town, thanks to everything you've done.

A sincere and happy thank you from the Corkscrew Rail Trail!
