I have been living with a roommate in Memphis since the middle of January 2024. I arrived here due to my chronic pain disorders (IBS, gastritis, neuropathy) requiring regular assistance and ample downtime to try and heal myself, as my Western medicine doctors weren’t able to fix me after being rendered nearly disabled through a large part of COVID. Through a Chinese medicine doctor friend, lifestyle changes, meditation, yoga, breathwork, supplements, and a change in diet, I’ve been able to get my issues down to a more manageable level that allows me to function quite well after two years of effort.

Living with my roommate was very harmful. He suffers from narcissistic personality disorder and is a typical example of it. He has a long history of harming others. While living with him, he put me through many episodes of psychological abuse and four total assaults.

For the most recent assault, he hit me and I defended myself to get him to stop. He called the police and I got arrested. I had to spend a week in jail. After being released, I found a homeless shelter in Memphis on a strict schedule. I don’t have most of my belongings. I am obtaining my birth certificate and photo ID here within the next couple of weeks as all my possessions are at my former home and I am not legally allowed to contact him.

I drastically require relocation to not be around my ex roommate with no work prospects or actual community. The former roommate has been tracking my location and I am unsure if he seeks to harm me further.

I’m looking for funding for food, housing outside of the shelter, and to secure a train ride back to NYC.

If anyone has leads for work, I’m open to most available jobs that I could qualify for. I have a recent history of AI prompt programming, smaller miscellaneous remote tech projects, and software engineering. Also, I have worked as a mover many times over while living in NYC.
