Unshackled Alchemy is the manifestation of Radical imagination and deep visioning of what a Joyful, Interconnected, Liberated, Community existence could look like, feel like, taste like.
Dreamed into existence in collaboration and love between Nico Le Blanc and Kelley Palmer, the Unshackled Alchemy Land Project is an Afro-Futurist vision focused on transmuting free thought and imagination for the liberation of Queer Trans Black Indigenous People of Color (QTBIPOC) folx everywhere. At the center of our vision is a desire to specifically engage Black people in co-creating sustainable models of liberation in this current moment.
In the embodiment of activating liberation, Nico and Kelley are on a journey to acquire land to create an off-grid, sustainable, and food-abundant respite for themselves, their family, and other QTBIPOC folx. The purpose of this land project is to serve as a possibility of what Black liberation could look like in the present and in resistance to racist, patriarchal, capitalist systems of oppression for QTBIPOC family, particularly during these times of heightened racial harm/oppression, patriarchy, and environmental racism / climate emergency.
Our vision is that stewardship of the land that chooses us will facilitate the space for deeper connection and healing to occur between QTBIPOC folx and the land – QTBIPOC family will be able to visit and stay on the land at little to no cost, co-learn how to heal the soil, grow food, harvest water, build structures, and engage in unlearning / decolonizing programming around land, identity, healing, imagination and liberation. Through fostering a deeper relationship with the land the space will also be created for QTBIPOC to envision what a self / community-reliant sustainable life - free from many of the current oppressive systems - can look and feel like on their terms.
Your contributions will help support:
- Acquiring the land. While many options exist for "buying land", we are committed to stepping outside of any process that will create ongoing burdens like a mortgage. This allows us to reserve future resources to support other needs of our community. We have found the land that we believe could be the space for the Unshackled Alchemy Land Project. While we are building a relationship with the seller, we are also working to secure the liquid capital to purchase the property upfront without the use of a bank.
- Building Supplies. The land we are calling home is raw land, which will require us to build an infrastructure to include water, energy and living spaces. We will need to buy tools and supplies to support this process. For transparency, we have created a list of the things we need now and will continue to update that list as our needs evolve. - Well and Septic. To create a place we can call home for ourselves and others we will need to drill a well and establish a septic system.
- Solar Energy System. Part of our vision for this space is to operate as aligned with nature and as regenerative as possible. Being able to use solar power will allow us to do that.
