Pronova Volunteer Fire Brigade, Please donate to help

The ProNova Volunteer Fire
Brigade Society is seeking donations to fund equipment purchases, training, and station upgrades as well as expand its fire/rescue services.

Our department is a new concept idea. We don't believe a service like this has been started in Nova Scotia before. Our department doesn't cover a specific 911 area. Our department does not operate off tax levies. Our department operates on fundraising and donations from people all over including funding from its own members.

The idea developed after the founding members looked into starting a medical transport service due to the state of the ambulance service in Nova Scotia. Patients should never have to wait hours for an ambulance to respond. Members started looking into the legalities of starting a patient transport service for emergency use only. Members begin to talk about other services needed in our area and from those discussions the membership decided to expand the services we endeavor to provide.

The goal of our department is to help fill in gaps in emergency response in our region and offer mutual aid to Yarmouth and Shelburne Counties and beyond. Offering the tools, equipment, and trained personnel that can respond to less frequent but higher risk calls that other departments in our region may not be trained or equipped to handle. Examples of some services we endeavor to offer are rehab/medical specialty truck, confined space rescue, trench rescue, water rescue as well as a dive team. Drone services with thermal imaging for fire and search services to name a few. As we grow with time we plan to expand into other services as well.

Our department will be activated through a mutual aid request and does not protect a geographical 911 area as a primary service provider. The department will respond mutual aid to those departments who request our services. This will be done through mutual aid agreements.

Pronova Volunteer Fire Brigade members are also members of the newly formed Nova Scotia Guard and will be responding regionally as well as across Nova Scotia as requested. As we grow, we hope to grow our membership as well. If you have interest in our new department and would like to learn more or possibly become a member please feel free to reach out at anytime. We can be found on Facebook as the Pronova Volunteer Fire Brigade.

The ProNova Volunteer Fire Brigade Society is seeking an ambitious $200,000.00 goal
in funding via this GoFundMe account. We understand this goal may take years and we may never reach that amount but we really appreciate your support and every cent you donate counts!

Our membership is made up of experienced and trained level one and level two firefighters. Members also have specialty training such as medical first responder and ice rescue to name a couple.

We have secured a station, a rescue truck, and ATV.

The department is seeking help to
raise money to start, upgrade and expand its services which includes some of the following:

-Equipping our rescue truck so it can hold a patient while waiting for an ambulance and to possibly transport a patient in need if no ambulance is available if approved. We are hoping policy can be changed over time to allow this in an emergency. We plan to offer rehab and a medical sector at all major mutual aid calls if called apon.
-Purchase of material to set up community Lifeflight day/night helicopter landing zone. Land has been acquired.
-Purchase of a used fire apparatus
-Purchase of a rescue boat and trailer
-Purchase of water rescue/dive equipment
-Purchase of confined space/trench rescue equipment
-Purchase of a drone with thermal imaging
-Repair of a ATV and trailer
-Purchase of PPE and SCBAs
-Purchase of training and insurance for the above listed services as well as some station upgrades.

We are up and running as an industrial fire brigade and we're in the process of working through the requirements to meet EHS and Municipal registration requirements. We hope to be a registered mutual aid provider within the Municipality of Barrington as well as a registered MFR agency in the coming months.

Thank you for your support!
