I know this is long but please read!! My name is Kailee Pollard and I am the daughter of Franklin Lee Pollard Sr. I never thought I would ever have to come to this. So a few years ago, my dad was taken to the ER, for what turn out to be kidney stones. Well after getting an X-ray, it turned out that he had a large softball-sized mass in his lower left sacrum. After his first set of MRI’s, he found out there was another dime-sized tumor on one of his kidneys. This has caused a lot of change in his life, as well as supporting me and my little brother. It has also been causing him so much pain, for years. This physical pain eventually forced him out the job he loved most, in police work, and after being a school resource officer. After he left his job, he and my brother relocated to Florida trying to do a less physically imposing job. That job ended up not working out either so he tried doing home inspections with the landlord that he rents his house from. After a couple of paychecks, he was told that the payroll could not be covered and was unemployed once again. This caused him to fall behind on bills, mounting debt daily, and destroyed his credit score by over 250 points. He fought for his credit score to come up but it is not near enough for him to relocate again. He now works for Uber, making barely enough for him and my brother to eat. This past November, the landlord told him that the house is being foreclosed on, forcing him and my brother out by January. He is fighting everything in his power to move back home closer to me. Anyone who knows my dad knows that he tries to avoid asking for help at all cost. But the stress and pain is overwhelming, not just for him but also for me and my brother. There is multiple times that my brother will text me saying that our dad had fallen because his left leg will go numb and give out because of this tumors. It is hard to hear this with me being so far away and as a college student, I can only do so much. Our dad has not been able to afford to go do his routine MRI’s, he can’t keep up with regular bills, and now he is getting kicked out of the house. The surgery to remove these tumors requires up to 9 different specialists and is about a 22-24 hour surgery, almost guaranteeing him to learn to walk again. It is hard for him to file for disability because he can not quit working for 6 months straight in order to support me and my brother. My dad is my hero and it hurts seeing him in these situations. He has helped many people in the past and has never wanted any recognition for that. Now, right here around Christmas time, it is a bad scenario. I would give him every dime I had, if I could. So I ask of anybody, who would be so kind to help, to come together and please help my family in this situation. Thank you all so much in advance! I am hoping and praying to raise enough to bring them home and maybe even get him the surgery he needs! Thank you all! Anything helps!
