My name is Teresa Schafer and my great-grandfather Oscar Laudick built the Bell and Star that goes on the water tower in Lyons, KS. The Bell and star started in 1938 and are lit from Thanksgiving night to New Year's. It cost about $5000 a year to keep this tradition going. In 2023 we started this GoFundMe as an electronic way for people to directly donate to the Bell and Star fund account. I greatly thank Kevin McClure for all of his help with that! You may share this site and use it in obituaries if people are asking for donations to be made to the Bell and Star fund. At this time we do not plan on taking the site down.
