Hi, all! For those who don't know me, my name is Sara Payne and I am the founder of The Lynn Payne Memorial Scholarship.
The intended reason for this scholarship is to honor her memory and to continue her legacy in the Scotch Plains-Fanwood Community. Lynn was a very lovely woman, a mother of 3, a recognized commodity in Scotch Plains- Fanwood for her charitable successes, a licensed Counselor, a friend, a mentor, a helping hand. She was a loving individual, who gave her all in anything that she put her mind to.
Unfortunately, she lost a long, hard battle to an incurable neurological disease known as ALS in October of 2012 at the age of 55. ALS has since been largely popularized by the "Ice Bucket Challenge" viral video campaign. Though she had to leave this world far too soon, she is remembered for her genuine love for life, compassion to help others, dedication to community service and empowering others. She brought out the best in everyone around her!
Therefore, I hope you can help me in honoring her memory too.
A scholarship will be awarded to a Scotch Plains or Fanwood High School senior who exhibits academic potential, character, and exhibiting school and/or community service. A candidate who is striving to enhance the lives of others.
This scholarship is for the purpose of post- high school education leading to a baccalaureate degree, with preference to those looking into these fields, but not limited to: medicine, social work, counseling, psychology.
All proceeds raised on the GoFundme will be used to fund the Lynn Payne Memorial Scholarship.
