Lydia’s Greece and training adventures

He was a year old, maybe. Just a baby, there in that dusty New Arrivals tent, with the water bottles and trash and general squalor all around. I was with a small group of my teammates, serving tea to the refugees that evening. He came up, quietly, and sat in my lap. He was so still, just soaking in the love. Maybe he hadn't had much of being loved, or at least not for a while. But there's something about that little body so quiet in my lap that remains one of my fondest memories of Greece.

And now I'm back! Back in that hot, dry land, where the stream of refugees pour across the dangerous Turkish strait in a desperate attempt to find something better than their old lives. In those crowded, chaotic camps, the I-58 volunteers bring the Love and hope of the God of heaven into the dirt and the noise. I get to be one of them again, and I'm so excited to be here.

I will also be pursuing different trainings when I get back from Greece which is also what this fundraiser will also be supporting.

I don't have a lot of money. And I don't really like asking... But I'm daring to ask. Daring to give you an opportunity to be part of what God is doing there on that little Greek Island, with tea and kindness and volunteers.
