In Uganda, the widespread presence of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) has caused much concern with over 35% of all deaths caused by NCDs annually. The four most prevalent NCDs in Uganda are hypertension, diabetes, cancer and chronic respiratory disease. Many people within communities like Lweza are at risk of acquiring these diseases, which is why the health center is an important resource for the approximately 7,000 community members within the village.
Along with the health center, our organization recognizes the need to implement educational programs that promote prevention through self-care behaviors. This will be done by collaborating with key community leaders to identify awareness gaps as well as to understand dietary preferences and agricultural practices and how they relate to the manifestation of NCDs. These efforts will allow us to establish a self-sustaining system in the village so that silent killer diseases are combated and health can improve through lasting interventions and techniques.
Your generous funds will support the community by helping with the completion of the building of our health center and other efforts by the organization. My family and I are grateful for your willingness to support our community and if you have any questions about our efforts, please visit our website at https://www.lwezahealth.org/
