LVFC Carnival Replacement
I just heard that due to concerns with Covid-19 the 2020 Leechburg Volunteer Fire Company Carnival has been cancelled. As many of you know, my dad was fireman for a long time and I know how important that carnival was to fund raising. Some of you might remember him as the guy that started the Funnel Cakes. My brothers and I spent many an evening serving those things! I was told that the carnival raises anywhere from 8 to $10,000. I completely understand that times are currently very tough. But if we can get 1000 people to donate just $10. That cost would be covered. Most of us would have spent more than that just on the rides and carnival games (Remember the mouse that ran into the colored hole?) and I don't believe any of that money went to the Fire Company. If you're local to Leechburg and GoFundMe isn't your cup of tea, I understand that you can also continue to support them through their bi-weekly Friday Fish Fry's. The next one is on May 29.
I, myself, am not affiliated with the LVFC and I am doing this partially in memory of my dad who died in January and was a lifetime member as well as the love I still have for my hometown and the aspects of life there that I remember fondly.
