Luke Taylor's Eagle Scout Project at HUMC

My name is Luke Taylor, and I'm a Life Scout with Troop 27 in San Mateo. I've been involved with Scouting America since I was six years old, and have been a part of Troop 27 for almost seven years now. I'm currently working toward the rank of Eagle Scout, and my Eagle Scout project is one of my final requirements.

I'm working with Hillsdale United Methodist Church in San Mateo to install planter boxes in their newly remodeled playground area. These planter boxes would house pollinator-supporting, drought-tolerant native plants like California Lilac and Yarrow, which would serve as a hands-on way for youth at the church to interact with nature and learn about biodiversity.

Hillsdale United Methodist continues to serve as a beautiful church and an upstanding and gracious supporter of the San Mateo Community. Having previously chartered Troop 27 for many years, I would love to give back with my project in hopes of improving the space and making it even more welcoming. Your donation will help not only in making my achievement of Eagle Scout possible, but also in fostering a beautiful and sustainable space for church youth to learn.

Thank you all for your support and consideration; this project truly wouldn't be possible without it.

Yours in Scouting,

Luke Taylor
