Ludicrous Road Closures

We the community of Islington are totally oppose to the Proposed Road Closures  being implemented throughout or neighbourhood without any form of consultation by Islington Council. These closures will cause Havoc and increase the volume of static traffic almost doubling and in some cases trebling journey times. This  will increase the amount of Pollution in the area  as local traffic is displaced and forced onto main roads,  which will seriously effect those who live on these roads, especially local children and those with underlying health issues.  Our Counsellors have not had the respect to engage  with local residents and ask their opinion, they have railroaded these measures using  'covid 19' as a smoke screen and  not  consulted allowed any local residents to be involved  in the process, this is  UNDEMOCRATIC and not acceptable . It is anticipated that these closers will further  isolated those who need the most support in our communities . Local Business owners are concerned about the financial impact this will have on them , many have stated that they will  hard to function and fear they will lose their livelihoods. Many residents are also fearful that  local criminal gangs will use these now deserted streets to carry out their criminal activity, residents fear that these areas will be used as rat runs to terrorise neighbourhoods and will be fearful of going out.    We are fundraising to enable us to  print banners small posters and  leaflets for businesses and residents to display in their windows to show their support . We are asking members to donate £1 or £2 pounds to help us achieve our goal . THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT
