Hi, We're the Hudson's! We're fundraising to get a therapy dog for Lucy, our Autistic / ADHD / PDA/ SPD 5yo girl.
Lucy struggles daily with high anxiety, daily functioning and communication. The benefits of a fur friend for Lucy would be priceless. And so many of her therapy team / school team have suggested a furry friend to help Lucy build confidence. The pup would be able to co-regulate, reduce anxiety and calm her.
Lucy goes to a psychologist and OT and she has extensive supports at a state school. We have seen a real change in Lucy over the last year and she's anxious about every aspect of life. Lucy loves animals, she's kind and generous with them and to be able to get a calm furry brother or sister would be a dream come true.
We're hoping to raise some money to help us to be able to afford to get Lucy a therapy trained dog. Whilst we'd love to be able to just go and rescue a dog we're unable to. To get a pup through an organisation like "Smart Pups" it costs $20k and they're a trained support dog. Paul and I are hoping to get a dog and pop the fur friend through training with "Therapy & Support Animals Australia" where they provide a 28day Stay and Train. Which is imperative.
Paul and I aren't people to ask for help, so this is odd for me as I type. Any donation is so gratefully received.
