Help a Wild Witch Healer Return to the Land
Dear friends, beloved community, and kind strangers,
For over twenty years, I’ve lived with chronic “invisible” disabilities. A traditional job was not possible, but I found my medicine and my purpose by building a home in a van — one that allowed me to live close to the wilds, tend the Land, and carry my work as a community herbalist, witch, and space-holder for healing. My van, Freida, the badass witchy mobile, was more than transportation, she brought freedom. She was my sanctuary, my accessibility-mobile, and my lifeline to the forest, mountains, desert and sea that nourish me and allow me to bring back medicine for my communities.
This July, everything changed. After weeks stuck in the city, I set out with my adventure kitty, Qatara, to return to the mountains and rest. Driving Sonora Pass, my brakes failed — even though all four had been replaced just months before. I managed to stop safely and waited for a tow truck. Then the California Highway Patrol arrived. They ordered me to move the van despite my protests that the brakes had failed. Under their authority, I complied — and moments later, the van flipped off a cliff with me and Qatara in it.
My beloved van-home was destroyed. By grace, Qatara and I survived. Insurance and legal routes have failed me — I’ve been told no lawyer will touch a case involving police negligence. And so, I am left with nothing: no home, no way to access the wild places that feed me, and no vehicle to carry the medicines and tools of my craft.
And yet — the forest is still calling. The land is still waiting. I am still here to serve.
I am vulnerably asking for community support to raise $30,000–$60,000 to replace my van with a safe, stable, accessible 4x4 camper. This is not just about mobility — it is about my ability to live, heal, and continue my service to the Land and to community.
For nearly ten years, I have served at Wolf Creek Sanctuary, for three years at Groundswell Land, and for over twenty years in the Reclaiming tradition. I have sung to the trees and listened to the plants, rejoiced with the crystals and had deep conversations with the mycillium. I’ve laughed and cried with the rolling creeks. Traveled dimensions within the redwood spirals and brought back messages from so many plant spirits. I have planted the babies of wild food and medicines and feel blessed to walk between the worlds of magick, community, and Land, to bring the blessings of the forest back to help heal the people. I’ve sat in heart circles, facilitated rituals and workshops, planted gardens, cleaned cabins, and held countless moments of healing council.
Now, I need help tending myself so I can continue.
Your donation is not only helping me rebuild my home-on-wheels, it is helping me return to the forests, deserts, oceans, and mountains where I come alive — and from which I bring back healing for us all. Every contribution is received with gratitude, and I will weave prayers, blessings, and spells of thriving for all who support.
Please consider donating and sharing this with your community, with a note about why my magick matters. Small amounts add up! Together, we can get me and Qatara back to the wilds, back to the source of our shared medicine.
If you prefer to make a direct contribution, you can Venmo @wyldwitch [LB Ananda].
