This October I will be running the Cardiff Half Marathon for someone very special to me - my nephew Lucian.

Lucian has Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) a rare genetic condition that affects muscle strength and movement. Despite the daily challenges he faces, his determination and spirit inspire me every single day.

At just 8 weeks old Lucian was diagnosed with Type 1 SMA which is described as the most severe form of the disease. But from the beginning Lucian has proven every prediction wrong.

He continues to grow, learn and show us his incredible spirit. His laughter,his strength and his fight are daily reminders that miracles are real.

I'm running to raise funds directly to support Lucians ongoing treatment, including vital physiotherapy sessions to help him stay as strong, mobile and independent as possible.

These treatments make a huge difference to his quality of life, but they are costly and ongoing.

One session alone costs £200.

Every mile I run will be for Lucian -for his strength , his smile and his future.
