Lucas Thor Kelley's Bucket List

Hi, I'm Linzy Taylor and I'm the mother of Lucas Thor Kelley. He's an eleven-year-old boy who was born with Chronic Granulomatous Disease. Lucas almost passed away from granulomatous colitis, but had a life-saving bone marrow transplant on October 25, 2017. A year later we found out that it didn't work the way it was supposed to. He traded one life-threatening illness for another. Lucas now has Post Bone Marrow Transplant Evans Syndrome. There's no cure for it. His doctor did say that she would transplant him again if his life was at risk.

For the past five and a half years we have been living in and out of quarantine (mostly in), just to keep him healthy. Any cold or virus can cause Lucas to relapse. He could also have a spontaneous bleed in his body at any given time. We were told that his life expectancy was about 5-10 years after transplant. You do the math. I don't obsess over those numbers. I'd drive myself crazy. I know that one day I will likely lose him. There's a chance he could be fine, but his Evans Syndrome does not always respond to treatment very well. They called it refractory for a while.

We believe he's doing well because of quarantine, but he no longer wants to live this way. He doesn't go to public school, nor does he do much outside the house at all. That's going to change now. It may be scary to set him free, and he will likely get sick and relapse. But we have to let him enjoy the time he has. In a way, it's like he's gone from the hospital to home, and barely anything else. Every time we've tried public school he's gotten sick and has had to stay home after treatments. The donations will go towards ANY need our family has. We want to be able to give him the life he deserves. He's got big goals. We will share the rest of his list here when it's ready!
