A little background on my beautiful son Luca.

Luca is autistic, he has been in specialist provision since he was three years old. He’s now in his last year of specialist college (I can’t believe he’s turning 22!).

I have managed to secure him a supported living placement. A little studio flat in a building with 4 other specialist care flats, 24 hour care and funding for one to one support for him.

It will be a huge step for both of us. It’s just been me and him since he was six. As a non verbal, severely autistic child, I was told I would always have to care for him. But with the support of wonderful schools, social and healthcare professionals , I now have this glorious, chatty, sweet and funny young man for a son, with the beginnings of a skill set that will see him living a supported but independent life (obviously with mum still on hand :).

I have applied for different grants for the adaptations to his new home but Luca still has to pay towards the care package and setting up the home and there is quite a shortfall in all the money that’s needed.
