If you’ve ever met Lucas, you’ve likely been greeted with the brightest smile and the most genuine hug you’ve ever received. His joy is infectious, his love is limitless, and his spirit is unbreakable. Lucas is not just our son, he’s a miracle wrapped in sunshine and strength.

Lucas was born with Williams Syndrome, a rare genetic condition that affects multiple parts of the body. Over the years, he has bravely faced a host of medical and developmental challenges, including:

• Two congenital heart defects (requiring yearly monitoring)

• Thyroid disorder

• Multiple gastrointestinal conditions

• Low muscle tone and tendon tightening, which cause frequent falls and fatigue

• Severely delayed cognitive development

• Autism Spectrum Disorder

• Sensory Processing Disorder, which significantly impacts every part of his daily life

• Hyperacusis, a rare hearing disorder that makes everyday sounds painful and terrifying

The Daily Struggles and His Unbreakable Spirit

Because of his high elopement risk, severely limited situational awareness, and inability to follow safety rules, Lucas must be supervised every moment. Public outings whether to the grocery store, park, or zoo are exhausting and often dangerous.

And yet, no matter how hard life gets, Lucas never complains.

He clutches his tummy pillow, puts on his noise-canceling headphones, and whispers,

“I’m going to try, I got this.”

He tries, every day. Through fear, exhaustion, and pain. And still, he smiles. Still, he loves. Still, he hopes.

Ollie: More Than a Dog

Ollie is a gentle, loving Golden Retriever and Lucas’s best friend. Their bond is nothing short of magical. Ollie intuitively senses Lucas’s distress and comforts him like no one else can.

But to truly support Lucas in the way he needs, Ollie must undergo intensive and specialized service dog training.

This training will enable Ollie to:

• Provide deep pressure therapy during sensory meltdowns

• Act as a safety tether to prevent Lucas from running into danger

• Offer physical support when Lucas’s body tires

• Help guide Lucas through loud, unpredictable, overwhelming environments
