In memory of my late uncle, Lt. Robert J. Ryan Jr, his fire house (Engine 155 Ladder 78) carried on his tradition of doing a toy drive at the Staten Island University Burn Unit. My Uncle Bobby was a burn victim survivor, and he took it upon himself to give back to the Burn Unit. Every Christmas he would collect toys, and hand them out to the children who were unable to be home for Christmas. In November of 2008, he passed away during his response to a house-fire call. The ceiling collapsed, knocking off his gas mask and ultimately leaving him unconscious. From that day on he became my hero. For many years after, his fellow firefighters continued his tradition in his name. The Staten Island University Hospital designated an ambulance in his memory, as well as his room in the Burn Unit. The firehouses was unable to do it this past year due to COVID, so I took it upon myself to raise the money this year. I have set high goals that I know can be achieved! I know my uncle is beaming down with pride right now. ANY amount of support is greatly appreciated. I have faith we will exceed my goal! Please share this with friends and family, as it means the world to me. Thank you everyone and God bless you!
