Get Loxley Silver Band to the National Championships 2024

If you would like to support the band, please donate what you can to help us represent Yorkshire as the Fourth Section Regional Champions at the National Brass Band Championships of Great Britain in September!

Loxley Silver Band, based in Stannington (Sheffield), is a traditional British brass band competing in the Fourth Section of the National Brass Band Championships of Great Britain.

On 2nd March 2024, the band won first place in the Regional Championships Fourth Section for the first time in its history (which dates back to 1889)!

The band also won the Fourth Section prizes for the Best Percussion Section and Youngest Player, with Musical Director, Lindon Bolt, also taking home the prize for Best Musical Director.

As a result of this achievement, the band have been invited to represent Yorkshire at the National Brass Band Championships of Great Britain in Cheltenham in September later this year. This is a fantastic opportunity for the band, however it does come at a cost.

As the band is community led and self-funded, they are fundraising to help cover the costs for the entry fees, rehearsal space, transportation and overnight accommodation. The band have secured some funding from the Sheffield Town’s Trust to cover the cost of transportation and have raised some money through various perfomances, however, they still need to raise a minimum of an additional £1,500 for the rest of the trip.

Loxley Silver Band is well known within the local community and welcomes all to come along and play. The band has a friendly family atmosphere and is made up of around 30 new and experienced players ranging from 11-80+ years old from Stannington and the surrounding areas. The band aims to provide opportunities for beginners to get involved in brass banding via their Training Band, and to engage with the community via performances at local events and outreach at local schools.

The band was founded in 1889 and first contested in 1902 for around 20 years before taking a long break and registering to contest again in 2014. Now, 10 years later, the band are Yorkshire Fourth Section Champions!
