Lowell, Idaho QRU fundraiser

Update as of 1/21/21: THANK YOUR FOR YOUR 2020 DONATIONS!  Combined with donations directly to the Lowell QRU’s local FNWCU donation account, they have exceeded their fundraising goal at $8,085!  The ambulance unit just received a grant for an automated CPR machine which they must contribute funds for, and your generous donations have allowed them to do this!  This machine performs perfect CPR for an extended period of time and will be serving critical patients as needed with this ambulance unit’s response in our remote area.  We will keep this page up to allow for out of area donors to easily support the Lowell QRU in the future, as the unit maintains a goal of raising $5,000 minimum annually. 

  The Lowell, Idaho QRU is a volunteer ambulance unit that  operates out of Lowell, Idaho at the confluence of the Middle Fork of the Clearwater River, Lochsa River, and Selway River responsible for 72 square miles including 42 miles of Highway 12, the Selway Road, and backcountry areas.  This unit is the first responder to medical emergencies in this remote area and they do not charge for their services, even though they often respond to an emergency at minimum of 20-30 minutes before any larger ambulance unit.  Therefore, supporting this QRU is essential to saving lives in this remote area.
This unit generally relies on a December potluck/ fundraising auction with a goal of $5,000 to maintain the ambulance itself as well as updating and maintaining the medical and emergency service equipment.    The unit averages only 1 call per month in the winter, but 5-7 calls per month from May through September when the area is bustling with about 20,000 visiting rafters, kayakers, campers, hikers, ATV riders, anglers, hunters, horseback riders and varying recreationists. In addition, they provide emergency medical assistance to many motorists traveling through the area as well as federal agency workers, loggers, and about 500 area residents.
