”there’s nothing more we can do for you”

Not really the words we wanted or expected to hear… but this was the reality of what Jayne and I were told back in February 2026 from my oncology team

Following a pretty physically brutal year of Chemotherapy with plenty of highs and lows this meeting was a turning point

Although it was initially a shock to hear those words it very soon turned into a freedom for me… the freedom to choose another path… the freedom to realise that as one door closes… others are opened

and so after a year of challenges both physical and financial we now had the golden opportunity… the blessing actually of having to start again… and it actually feels great.

So here’s what’s been happening since that meeting…

We received a small tax refund due to lack of income over the previous year which we were able to use for some treats / days out etc for the family after a year of life being on hold in many ways for us all.

We began to receive benefits for our day to day living/existing which along with Jayne’s work salary just about covered food, rent, fuel etc (don’t believe all of the headlines about benefits they are not easy to claim - I almost gave up a number of times due to the stress on me of ‘the system’ and they do not cover our entire outgoings)

I began a deep self care and self love regime to include but not limited to grounded walking, meditation, hortotherapy (being in gardens and nature) nutrition both food and supplemental ‘medicine’ under expert guidance.

During this process to heal I am still not working due to energy, fatigue, pain and as one of my advisors called it ‘medical unreliability’

I fully intend to return to the work I love in serving others but for now it’s important that I follow my own advice… and love myself back to health

so why the fundraiser… well I want to be really clear about this

There are two key reasons

1 is the cost of organic high quality nutrition and supplements is a lot and although we have been using our small savings to supplement this it’s not sustainable to carry on without your help

2 I am blessed with an extremely high tolerance for surviving and also blessed with the strongest family support from Jayne and Charlotte but it would be great to have a few treats maybe luxuries such as fun days out or mini breaks to say thank you to them and for us all to enjoy family time which has been challenging for the last year and a half since diagnosis

Any additional funds that you donate to our little family pot would be used in the order above and we as a family thank you so much for your continued support for us as I continue to love myself back to health
