Planting a Dream! Raising $30,000 in 30 days to help kids grow!
Growing food and gardening - what a fundamental way to cultivate job and life skills, environmental stewardship, and service in youth facing barriers!

The Loveland Youth Gardeners community has literally planted thousands of seeds since 1996, many growing into fruits, vegetables, herbs and flowers. But more importantly, we have planted the seeds of self-esteem, self-sufficiency and self-determination in thousands of youth across our community! These amazing kids are our future! Through horticultural therapy interventions we are able to provide kids with the tools they need to succeed!

A parent commented that her sons are on the Autism Spectrum and through this program they have gained so much confidence and skills to help them be successful. “They taught the boys calming down skills that I have seen them use in other life experiences and situations. I’ve watched these kids take responsibility and ownership and it’s been so amazing to see their social skills just skyrocket. When they brought home harvested veggies, they had so much pride and excitement. I was so excited to see their commitment and involvement. They both have gained so much confidence through the programs.”

Our youth plant the seeds and reap what they sow - selling food to the public at farmer’s markets and to restaurants, maintaining beautiful planters throughout Loveland’s downtown district, caring for our neighborhood gardens and donating the food they grow to food banks in our community (87 pounds in 2019!). For 24 years, our 501c3 nonprofit Loveland Youth Gardeners has been encouraging and supporting at-risk youth with learning lifelong work/life skills through gardening and service to their community.

Through our programming, we’ve reached more than 2,100 students - ranging in age from 3 to 21 years old! With our new site we will expand our reach!

“LYG taught me important skills like being on time and being prepared. I felt a great deal of accomplishment when I planted a seed and saw this huge tower of spinach and tomatoes. I thought, ‘I can really do this!’”—Student Gardener

Teachers and parents alike say over and over how our programs are life-changing for kids, like those who struggle in school, have challenging home lives, or have trouble relating to others. LYG serves children facing a variety of challenges, including single-parent households, autism, foster/adopt, depression, emotional trauma, ADHD, Down Syndrome, trouble with law enforcement issues, self-harm and poverty.

"Student participation in Loveland Youth Gardeners facilitates marked change in them. The seeds they plant have just as much to do with life as they do vegetables. I have seen students completely transform their view of themselves and their role in the world around them simply by taking part in Loveland Youth Gardeners. It is a tremendous program and we are very fortunate to have it in our community." Teacher, Mountain View HS

Like many nonprofits, this year has brought us challenges, our major event was cancelled and we have been hit hard financially due to Covid. Our kids cannot lose LYG! We have been working to expand our program and collaborate with our new partner, Boys & Girls Club of Larimer County. Now We Need To Raise The Funds!

Help Us Raise The Funds! During our October Go Fund Me Campaign, our goal is to raise $30,000 in 30 days!

Help us Plant A Dream! Your donation of any amount continues the Legacy of Loveland Youth Gardeners and the Youth We Serve. Please give to help kids grow! Your contribution ensures that our nonprofit can continue to serve at-risk and challenged children in Larimer County and the surrounding area.

“I support Loveland Youth Gardeners because the programs address community needs that concern us, including education, environmental stewardship, nutrition and food security. Since 1996, LYG has provided opportunities for young people to learn new skills, to overcome personal challenges and to develop the gifts that each one brings to the programs.” –Donor
