Hi! We are Chris and Stephy Miller.
Even before we got married five years ago, we felt God calling us to adopt. We dreamed of having several biological kids then adopting several more kids into the family. But God had other plans...
After we dealt with not being able to have kids, we began to dream of giving a "forever home" to children who need a family.
Stephy found an agency called Quiver Full Adoptions out of Greenville, South Carolina. We started at number 90 on the waiting list. At long last, we are on the active list!
Now, Quiver Full Adoptions is showing us to birth moms who are looking for a family for their babies. Once a mom picks us (YAY!), it will up to her to interact with us as much as she would like.
It's really important to remember that this is a really tough process for birth moms. They are very courageous for being willing to carry a baby all the way to full term and being willing to give the baby up. They love their babies so much that they are willing to let them go so their babies can have a better life.
One day, we'll get a call from our case worker. "It's time to head to the hospital." We'll drop everything and get on the quickest flight to wherever our little baby is about to be born.
After the birth, we will need to stay with our baby in the home state for about two weeks while we take care of legal matters. Once a judge gives the go-ahead, we will be allowed to take our baby home to start a new chapter in life.
The adoption is estimated to cost $25,000.
So far we have raised and saved $11,000. Our health insurance will chip in $4000. Finally, we are looking for grants totaling $10,000.
The money we are raising now is to help take care of any unforeseen expenses that may raise the cost of the adoption above $25,000. If there is any extra money, we will roll that into funding our next adoption.
Once the dust settles from baby number one, we plan to immediately start the process of adopting baby number two.
