Love thy Neighbor: NorthEnd Church Eagle Scout Project

Hi, my name is Jenna Dobbrow, and I’m a Life Scout working toward earning my Eagle Scout rank. For my Eagle Scout project, I am partnering with the NorthEnd Church of Christ community in Hartford, Connecticut, to help improve lives of people in need.
The church is a lifeline for people facing extreme poverty, providing food, clothing, and basic human necessities to the elderly, single mothers, the disabled, and anyone in need. However, the current space used to store and distribute donations is unsafe, disorganized, and not meeting the urgent needs of the community.
My project will create a safe, clean, functional, and dedicated pantry room that can efficiently store and distribute non-perishable food, clothing, diapers, and other critical supplies. I will replace the old, unsafe carpeting with durable flooring, repaint the walls, improve air flow with vent work, and install custom shelving built to the church’s specifications to maximize space and accessibility.
This is an opportunity to create deeper understanding, empathy, and connection between two communities: those of us who are more fortunate and those struggling with what Deacon Art Miller calls “violent poverty,” just miles from where I live. By including other youth and volunteers, I hope this project brings people together under God’s call to love and serve one another.
With your support, we can provide hope, dignity, and practical help to those who need it most and show that we are truly one community.
Every dollar brings us closer to building this pantry of hope. Thank you so much for considering a donation.
