Love and support for the Profetas

Hello, I hope this note finds you well. For those of you who don’t know me, I am Jolina Autry, I worked at the Palm for 14 years and consider Joey and Libby Profeta to be very dear friends of my family.

As most of you know, Libby has been battling brain cancer and was diagnosed 12 years ago today. Yes! 12 years! Life really changed about 4 years ago for Joey and his family when Libby started loosing her memory. They have watched her slowly decline over those years and about 3.5 weeks ago, Libby could not be left at home alone. She could no longer do the things you and I do everyday without help - eat, get dressed, shower, brush her teeth, sit, stand, walk, use the bathroom, etc. She quickly declined to point where her arms and legs just weren’t working. In order to keep her safe and give her the proper care she very much needed and deserved, Joey made an extremely difficult decision to move her to a hospice house almost 2 weeks ago. They have been taking excellent care of her and she has been putting up the fight of her life!

Joey has managed to work 60+ hours a week (for his family, for The Palm Restaurant and for his customers), take care of his wife, take care of his house, and attend all his son’s activities and volunteer events. As I sat with Libby in the hospice house while she slept to write this, Joey and Dominic were volunteering at church for a food drive. Simply amazing! This caring and generous man and his family sure could use a break.

Joey will never EVER ask for help but he is always the first person to help others. I know he and his family are surrounded by wonderful, loving and caring family (blood or not) and friends and I am reaching out to ask for your financial support. It would be great if we could help him with 12 years of medical bills, recent hospice costs and approaching funeral expenses.
