We have rallied behind this little warrior and his family before, it's time to show them we are here again!

Lawson’s Story
Lawson has been bravely fighting a rare cancer, Rhabdomyosarcoma since February 2025. What began as a sudden hospital visit has turned into a long and difficult journey filled with treatments, travel, and ongoing uncertainty. We are sharing his story to ask for support so his parents focus on being by his side.

Timeline
February 12, 2025
Lawson was taken to the children’s emergency department with trouble urinating. A mass was found on his prostate, and he was admitted immediately. A catheter was placed for three months. After a week in Kingston, he was transferred to SickKids in Toronto where a biopsy was done.

February 21, 2025
Lawson was diagnosed with Rhabdomyosarcoma.

February 28, 2025
He began a year of chemotherapy in Kingston.

July 16–17, 2025
Surgery to remove the tumour was attempted and then was halted due to risk. The next day, we learned Lawson and his whole family would need to travel to Jacksonville, Florida for proton therapy. A therapy not available in Canada.

August 18 – October 12, 2025
Lawson completed 28 rounds of proton therapy in Florida while continuing chemo treatment.

January 2026
Frontline chemotherapy ended, next is five additional maintenance cycles. Nicole returned to work, and Dom began preparing to restart his seasonal business after more than a year off.

April 2026
Complications arose. Lawson began experiencing pain, difficulty urinating, and fatigue. An emergency MRI showed the tumour had doubled in size. A catheter was placed again, and he was airlifted to Toronto.

April 18, 2026
Lawson underwent surgery to remove the catheter and reroute his bladder through ureterostomies.

Today
Lawson remains in the hospital in severe pain, requiring strong medications including morphine, hydromorphone, and ketamine. While proton therapy helped, it was not as effective as hoped. The tumour is now partially necrotic but still active and causing complications.

Nicole is off work again to be with Lawson full time, while Dom has been unable to return to steady work.
