Brett Vargason went to be with our Lord and Savior late last night February 28, 2026 after a brief battle with stage 4 tongue cancer that he was diagnosed with at the end of 2025. He told his dear wife, Maria, when he was first diagnosed that he was not scared to die. She never thought it would be so quickly and did have hope that he could fight this cancer. Please pray for the Vargason family and close friends who will dearly miss him.

"The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit." Psalms 34:18

Our hilarious-in-the-face-of-life’s-deepest-trials friend will indeed be deeply missed. Brett was an incredible friend and family man who listened deeper than most people we have ever known. A man who loved faithfully and whimsically. A man who reflected Jesus in a palpable way. We are sad, but our sadness is not without hope.

As many of you know, Brett had been in school the last few years getting prepared for work as a full-time counselor. Brett was also one of the most gifted drummers in town with some of the best natural feel of anyone in Nashville. Brett played on many of our songs and albums over the years to the delight of many.

Being fully aware of the present financial realities as Brett had been unable to work full-time, we want to raise funds for the family, so that finances will not be any additional burden for them to carry. All proceeds will go directly to the family.
