Hey friend!

I am a Caribbean trans non-binary person of color raising money for the immigration process (getting a green card and eventually citizenship). Like many children from my background, the path was set before me. I met the love of my life while I was starting my professional growth journey (master's scholarship and currently PhD). Still, I also have the illusion of getting the gender-affirming care I need (medically necessary).

I come from a beautiful island with caring people, but I was affected by historical imperialism, colonialism, and oppression, and I dedicated my life to fighting against it. I am a survivor, and it was time for me to take care of the body that has been carrying every struggle. Unfortunately, the future seems scary, too, and while fighting generational poverty, we’re trying to make the necessary arrangements before anything happens. This year has been challenging and painful

I am currently a full time PhD student at UIC and TA on top of my work load. Due to my student visa, I am not able to work outside of the school. Everywhere I go, I carry my mom’s philosophy, “Wherever you go, always try to leave the place better than you found it,” that’s why I am a Chicago Bird Collision Monitor, a ranger with Urban Rivers, a Master Naturalist, birder, organizer and always looking to contribute in my communities. I love love, feeding people and birds, and Chicago is where I found my passions and married the love of my life.

My partner and I have been loving each other for almost 3 years ❤️‍ we’re super gay, hahaha, but if you knew the stories we carry, you would say that it’s time for us to have a little peace.
