Hi Friends! We have started this GoFundMe as many of you have reached out to ask how you can support Emily and Justin Logan through their horrific fight to bring their babies home healthy.

You see, Claire, their gorgeous, full of life, four-year-old daughter was admitted to MU Children’s Hospital with E.coli on Saturday, October 14, 2023. In the days following she was also diagnosed with hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS). Her kidneys completely shut down, not functioning making her unrecognizable with the all fluid retention. The pain HUS causes is unimaginable. Little sweet four-year-old is in horrendous pain. Claire received pain medications, blood transfusions, surgery for port placement, and several rounds of dialysis to help her body combat these beasts. Late Saturday, October 21, 2023, Claire became unresponsive and with further testing it was discovered that she had a stroke.

Just when you can’t image going through what Emily and Justin are experiencing with their baby girl, the nightmare continues. Claire’s two-year-old, sweet, adventurous precious little brother was admitted to MU Children’s Hospital with E.Coli on Tuesday, October 17, 2023. Jacob was also diagnosed with HUS the following day. His little body is taking the same path as his big sister’s - his kidneys completely shut down, and in unimaginable pain. Jacob received pain medications, blood transfusions, surgery for port placement, and several rounds of dialysis to help his body expel the demon.

Claire and Jacob were air lifted in separate choppers, wrapped in quilts handmade by their late great-grandmother, to St. Louis Children’s Hospital Intensive Care Unit on Sunday, October 22, 2023 to continue the fight of their lives.

They are in separate ICU rooms, and will remain for the unforeseen future. As I share this story, it is known that Claire has markers of brain damage, possible heart issues and other complications of HUS. Jacob is holding his own with around the clock dialysis.

This feels like a nightmare to Emily and Justin. Never in their wildest dreams would they have imagined this scenario for themselves or anyone else. The stress has been incredibly overwhelming. They have been with their babies day and night. There are so many unknowns at this point. Money raised will be used to support Emily and Justin’s family through this hospitalization and recovery.

Thank you to the thousands of people lifting this precious family in prayer. Prayers are answered and miracles do happen. We experience it every day - Emily, Justin, Claire and Jacob could use a little bit of good news right now.
