FAMILY HOME RUINED AFTER LONDON FLOODS

Donation protected

Hi My Name is Gary, and I am a carer for my disabled wife and our 3 children one whom has sensory needs, and we would like to ask you to please help us get back on our feet after we lost so much from the SEVERE FLASH FLOODING AND SEWAGE BACK UP, last week on the 12th July, the water level rose in our garden so far in was coming in through our garden door cat flap  at a height of 12inches of water pushing against the door

While we used everything to hand to barricade the door to save our furniture but lost all of our clothing/linens/ and furniture as it all soaked up sewage. We have lost so much.

The event unfolded....

On 12th July the flat and foundations underneath of our home were flooded.

The basement flat was flooded with foul water causing damage to property where where there are 3 children one with additional needs and a disabled and vulnerable lady..

We personally spent hours trying to bucket/sweep/suck out the foul water by hand from my front and rear basement entrances along with my neighbour supporting our efforts .

There was sewage visibly floating in the water from the backed up drains by our garden door and the water was pouring through the water threshold and was at one point coming in through our cat flap (which is a massive 11.5inches off the floor outside the door and next to 2 drains) as the water was that high, we had to use all available materials to hand including the children's bedding sheets clothes cushion as one one point we were trying to barricade the door from inside.

Since the flooding and the sewage entering our homes we have all as a family since come down with a case of suspected gastroenteritis from the sewage and we have had to consult a GP, and my partner has a chest infection and has been put on antibiotics and steroids for her lungs which we can only expect to be from the flooding and mould and sewage. This is ridiculous the amount of debris and bacteria we were covered in

Much of our furniture has had to be thrown along with over 30 full bin bags of ruined clothes and with no contents insurance we just cant see a way forward until if and when Thames water take responsibility, which could be who knows when.

Our son with special needs has had his whole life torn apart, he finds change so difficult and is home educated in a semi rigid routine at home in an area which was also sodden., all carpet and underlay has been removed, much of the childrens gardens belongings were also destroyed in our outside shed, this is all the equipment we use for our home education all completely stink from soaking up the smell and bacteria and are now a health hazard we are absolutely devastated as some things were extremely sentimental.

IF you could spare a little towards helping us replace flooring furniture and clothes for all of us as they were all soaked in sewage along with our bedding and our bed and so much we would be so grateful for any support we are lucky enough to be given

We have so far had no reply to our contact with Brent council or thames water, but are luckily in contact with a group of residents that are coming together in tragedy and disaster. So for that we are thankful.

Any thank you so very much for taking the time to read this until the end and helping me put a smile back on my partner and children's faces9
