Lost her family in Gaza: Help Nermeen Rebuild a Life
Donation protected
Hello, I'm Daniel Masoud Ayyad, a Berliner with a heart heavy with the weight of tragedy. I'm reaching out to you on behalf of my cousin Nermeen Ayyad, currently residing in Helwan, Cairo, who lost her son, husband, and brother in one night.
Nermeen’s story is like that of many Gazans over the past months, marked by several acts of displacement, loss of family members, and unfathomable grief. It all began on October 7th, when Nermeen, her husband Ashraf, her brother Yousef and his family, and her three sons were forced to leave their home in the Shuja'iyya district of Gaza City. Little did they know that what was meant to be a temporary relocation would spiral into a journey of unimaginable pain.
21. March 2024: Nermeen‘s family could finally collect the money needed to apply for Ya Hala border service in Egypt, flee, and save their lives. Nermeen hoped to flee with her family, her brother, and his family of 2 kids and wife (Amira).
As violence escalated and the Israeli Army targeted their area, Nermeen and her family moved further south, seeking safety in Maghazi, Deir Al-Balah, and eventually finding themselves in tents near the Egyptian border in Rafah.
11. April 2024: Their hopes for a return to normalcy shattered on the second day of (Muslim) Eid when the Israeli Army targeted an Eid celebration near their tents, claiming the lives of several civilians, including Nermeen's beloved husband Ashraf, her brother Yousef, and her precious son Fajer.
13. April 2024: Amidst the overwhelming grief, a ray of hope emerged as Nermeen, along with her two surviving sons, Firas and Fares, received a permit to enter Egypt. They journeyed to Helwan (in Cairo), seeking refuge and a chance to rebuild their shattered lives.
The road ahead is daunting. Nermine and her two boys need our support to pay rent, sustain their living, and find a semblance of normalcy in their new refuge. Your contribution can make a world of difference in helping them heal and rebuild.
Please, join me in supporting Nermeen and her sons as they navigate the long road from tragedy to hope. Together, we can make a difference in their lives and show them that they are not alone in their journey.
Thank you for your generosity and compassion.
