Losing our vehicles

Donation protected
Hello, my name is Holly. I hate having to do this, but don't know what else to do. We need help making our car payments for last month and this one due to many unfortunate events we have been going through over the past couple of months. If we can’t get these paid, we will lose our vehicles.

On May 20th, three days before our cross-country move to bring me closer to my family, my husband, Gavin, had a heart attack due to a complete blockage in one of his main arteries. The doctor said that if he hadn't called an ambulance when he did, he would not have survived. He was in the hospital Friday-Sunday. I stayed up late doing my best to finish packing and preparing for our move to and spent the daytime hours in the hospital with my husband. Against the doctor’s orders, we started our move on Monday the 23rd as scheduled, because we already had so much invested in it. We hired people to help load the truck but didn't receive the full crew, resulting in us getting on the road much later than anticipated and spending more than originally budgeted for because it took so long to get the job done. We also had to dispose of many of our belongings because the quote we were given of what size truck to rent was not accurate, and there simply was not enough room for everything. After two days on the road, we discovered that all 4 tires on the truck were drastically low and had been costing us much more in fuel costs. We hadn’t checked the tires because we were told the truck would be “ready to go” when we reserved it. On the final day of our 4-day journey, Gavin called our new landlord in West Virginia to let them know when we would arrive to get the keys. At that point, he demanded we pay June's rent early. When Gavin questioned this and informed him that we would have the rent on June 1st as originally agreed upon, the landlord called it a “red flag” and said “things would not end well” before saying that he would now not to rent to us. Gavin tried to explain what had happened over the past few days and again told him that we would the full rent on the 1st, but he refused to accept anything and accused Gavin of giving him a “sob story” and telling him that he would end up evicting us anyway. We were officially homeless, but on Gavin’s brother’s advice, we continued driving because it would do us no good to sit and stew over things and wait for a solution. While continuing our drive to West Virginia, Gavin’s brother tried finding us another place to rent that would accept 3 dogs on such short notice. Luckily, he was able to find a home, but it required a $3500 deposit. I called to pull what little I could from my small 401k, and Gavin’s brother and Sister-in-law were able to loan us some money as well so that we could move in. We had to skip several bills in order to pay for everything in preparation for the move, during it, and after. This put us behind two months on our car payments. Our vehicles are necessary because I need to commute an hour to work, and Gavin needs his car to drive for LYFT, which provides necessary income to our household and supplements his Social Security Disability. Gavin is a proud man and hates asking for help from anybody. He insists that whatever is given through this is somehow paid back in full, plus something extra. Please find it in your heart to help in any way that you can. It doesn’t have to be much, just something to prevent our vehicles from being repossessed. Thank you, and God bless you all.
