Los Pinos Hudson Bend - Furniture

My name is Landen Ehlers and I am starting this fundraiser in response to the fire that partially destroyed our beloved local business Los Pinos Hudson Bend.

In the early hours of September 14th, locals called 911 in response to smoke pouring from the roof of Los Pinos. It seems a light fixture in the corner of the building had shorted out and caught the attic on fire. The fire spread through the attic of much of the building before being put out by our own Lake Travis Fire Rescue. As Margarito, the owner of the business (but not the building), showed up to survey the wreckage of his restaurant, he found the ceiling, air conditioning, light fixtures, and metal roof were totally destroyed along with all of the furniture (tables and chairs) and computers.

Since then, the landlord's insurance thankfully covered the repairs to the building (roof, AC, lights, drywall, paint), and these repairs are almost complete. Margarito has opened up a food trailer in the parking lot to help cover expenses while his restaurant is down, but he and his family are faced with a seemingly insurmountable obstacle: the landlord's insurance covered the building, but since Margarito owns the tables and chairs, insurance did not cover them. He has looked around at restaurant supply houses, and the cost to replace all the tables and chairs, and therefore get his business back, is around $7,500. Margarito has expressed to myself and others in our community that he has no ability to raise this much money by himself and that he has no idea how he's going to be able to make it work. This is where we come in! As a Hudson Bend/Apache Shores/Lake Travis/West Austin community, I believe it is our duty to support our local business and help them in times of need like this! My family and I, as well as most of your families, have enjoyed countless meals served up by Chef Margarito Maldonado and his family, and I for one would like to get them back at it! This is a chance for all of us to support our community and help these awesome people get back on their feet. Please, if you are able, donate $1, $50, $500, and soon we'll all be back inside Los Pinos drinking margaritas and eating those beautiful tomahawk steaks he loves to cook for us.
