Los Jilgueros Preserve Trail Steps - Carlo Valenzuela T. 731
Donation protected
Hello! My name is Carlo Valenzuela. I'm an Eagle Scout candidate with Boy Scout Troop 731 based in Fallbrook, CA. A keystone requirement to becoming an Eagle Scout is completing a meaningful project to help nourish your community, and it'd mean the world to me if you could help me.
My project beneficiary is the Fallbrook Land Conservancy (FLC). Preserving is their name, and protecting is their game! With responsibility for over 4,000 acres of land and 10 preserves (and counting!), countless workers, volunteers, and locals work year-round for this incredible nonprofit organization.
One of their most notable preserves, Los Jilgueros Preserve (LJP), has many trails weaved throughout it for the public to enjoy the countless beautiful views offered. Just one hiccup... along the northeasternmost turn of the trails, there's a compound slope of hard-packed dirt with a layer of loose grain, just sharp enough to awkwardly shift your weight and cause a slipping hazard for disabled, elderly, and/or children.
So here is where my project comes to aid. With the help of the FLC, coaches, countless advisors, and most importantly you! I've planned and will fund a stair set made by carving into the hill, laying pavestones and mortar, and filling in each landing with the hard-dug dirt. Included you may see a picture of the location as well as a rough model showing a segment of what the 10-12 total steps will look like.
