“Hello, my name is Lynda, and I’m reaching out with love and hope for my nephew Ben, his wife Hannah, and their baby Billie. Our family has faced heartbreaking challenges, and right now Billie is bravely preparing for a bone marrow transplant to treat HLH. We are raising funds to support Billie’s journey and the incredible charity LATCH, who have stood by us every step of the way. This cause is deeply personal to me—I was given the gift of life through a bone marrow transplant myself, and now I want to help ensure Billie receives the same chance at a future filled with joy and Health.

From Losing a Mum to Fighting for Their Baby — Ben and Hannah Need Your Support

This year has brought unimaginable heartbreak for my nephew Ben and his wife Hannah. In June, Ben lost his mum to pancreatic cancer — a grief that shook our whole family. Just as Ben was preparing to return to work after compassionate leave, and Hannah was ready to go back after maternity leave, their world was shattered again: baby Billie was diagnosed with HLH, a rare and life-threatening condition.

Billie has already spent months in Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospital in Cardiff, bravely enduring chemotherapy. During that time, Ben and Hannah were supported by the charity LATCH, who provided them with accommodation inside the hospital so they could stay close to Billie while devoted grandparents cared for the other children and dogs at home. Now Billie urgently needs a bone marrow transplant, scheduled for December 17, 2025, in Newcastle.

Ben and Hannah are now living in Newcastle for Billie’s treatment, and may have to remain there for three to six months. The strain is relentless: only one parent is allowed to stay overnight with Billie in hospital, forcing the other to pay for a hotel nearby. At the same time, they must continue covering their mortgage and bills back in Cardiff, with jobs hanging in the balance and no certainty about the future. Their other children, including foster children, remain at home — cared for by grandparents who are doing everything they can to keep life stable with school, pets, and everyday routines while Ben and Hannah are away. The emotional toll of being separated from their children, combined with the crushing financial pressure, is overwhelming.

I know firsthand what a bone marrow transplant means. On Christmas Eve 2008, my brother Alan gave me the gift of life as my donor. My husband was my rock through that time, standing by me every step of the way. I also had the strength of my children, the rest of my family, and friends who surrounded me with love and support. Years later, Ben himself donated his bone marrow to a pregnant woman in the United States — saving both her and her baby. Our family has seen how powerful this act of giving can be, and now Billie faces the same fight for her own chance at life.

Not only do I want to help raise money for Ben and Hannah’s family, but also for LATCH — the charity that supported them so generously during Billie’s months in Cardiff. Their work makes an enormous difference for families in crisis, and I want to ensure they can continue helping others as they helped us.

To show my commitment, I will be doing a skydive on April 4th, 2026 — a leap of faith for Billie’s future. I am fundraising this skydive myself, so every single donation will go directly towards supporting Ben, Hannah, baby Billie and their family, as well as the incredible charity LATCH. Nothing will be taken out for costs — your generosity will go straight to where it is needed most.

We are asking for your help to ease the crushing financial burden, to keep this family together, and to give Billie the best chance of recovery. Every donation, no matter the size, will make a difference. Please donate today and be part of Billie’s fight for life — and help us give back to LATCH, who give so much to families like ours.
