Longest Washing Line of Socks

The Rotary Club of Port Macquarie West, in conjunction with the Rotary Clubs of District 9650, have officially announced our intention to break the existing World Record titled “Longest Washing Line of Socks” with all funds raised going to four outstanding community service organisations: Endeavour Mental Health Recovery Clubhouse; YP Space; Soldier On Port Macquarie; Hastings Education Fund.
To celebrate Rotary’s centenary in Australia in the month of April 2021, Rotary clubs in District 9650 will build a mammoth washing line, never seen before, which will be over 10,000 metres long with over 100,000 socks pegged to it to claim the World Record Title. The current Guinness World Record was set on 17 May 2014, outside the small village of Halverde, Germany, a 6,066 metre long washing line with 69,152 socks pegged to it.
We all know that COVID-19 has affected all of us in some way but for our community organisations that rely on donations each year through events and projects, 2020 was extremely tough.
It is Rotary's commitment in 2021 to support our nominated organisations get back on their feet through this world record attempt which we hope will, in turn, reunite our community in a common cause, post lockdowns.
Please give what you can to help YP Space (youth homelessness), Solider On Port Macquarie (mental health support male veterans) Hastings Education Fund (youth education support) and Endeavour Mental Health Recovery Clubhouse (mental health counselling).

The World Record Attempt is planned to occur on Friday 4 and Saturday 5 June 2021 on the large field adjacent to the Sovereign Place Town Centre.
