Long Live Caylee — Turning Pain Into Purpose
Hi, my name is Julie Mastin, and I’m Caylee’s mom.
On March 14, 2023, my beautiful daughter, Caylee Mastin, died by suicide at just 15 years old. Caylee was vibrant, funny, kind, and full of light. She loved deeply, laughed loudly, and touched everyone she met. Losing her has shattered our family. She leaves behind me and her little brother, Camden, who is my entire world.
Our story is one of unimaginable loss — but also one of resilience, love, and hope.
Why I’m Here
After losing Caylee, my life completely changed. I’ve faced heartbreak, financial struggles, and a justice system that failed us — but I’ve also discovered something unexpected: Caylee’s story is helping others.
In December 2024, I began sharing Caylee’s videos on social media. I was nervous, but the response was overwhelming. People from all over reached out — not just to express sympathy, but to share their own stories of grief, bullying, and survival. It showed me something powerful: we are not alone.
That connection lit a fire in me. I realized I couldn’t stay silent. I want to turn this pain into purpose by building something in Caylee’s honor — something that creates awareness, breaks stigma, and supports teens and families navigating grief and mental health struggles.
My Mission
This GoFundMe supports the work I’ve begun — and the work still ahead. My goals include:
-Be The Light Events — Community gatherings to honor loved ones, connect families, and provide mental health resources.
-School Partnerships — Bringing grief and mental health awareness into schools, creating safe spaces for students.
-Advocacy & Speaking — Sharing Caylee’s story to raise awareness, fight stigma, and create real change.
-Grief Support Resources — Offering retreats, workshops, and peer connections for families and teens.
-Caylee’s Legacy Foundation — A long-term vision to fund programs, provide scholarships, and build a supportive network for youth mental health.
How You Can Help
Your donation — no matter the size — directly funds the work we’re doing:
-Supporting Be The Light events
-Funding grief and mental health resources
-Helping students and families access support
-Advocating for change in our schools and communities

Caylee’s Light Lives On
This journey isn’t easy. I’ve faced incredible challenges — the kind you never think you’ll survive. But every time I share Caylee’s story, someone reaches out to say:
"Because of Caylee, I talked to my child about suicide."
"Because of Caylee, I finally got help."
That’s why I keep going.
I’m doing this for Caylee, for Camden, and for every family who has felt invisible in their grief. Together, we can build something beautiful out of unimaginable pain.
Thank you for every share, every donation, and every kind message. You are helping keep Caylee’s light alive.
