My name is Lisa Dunn. Like many of you, I woke up one morning to the nonstop drone of small flight-school planes over my home—hundreds of them every single day. The noise made it impossible to sleep, open my windows, or work from home.

I decided to take action. I began making calls, emailing officials, and talking with neighbors to understand why this sudden surge in training flights was happening. Alongside fellow resident John Mosquera, we created a community group and established a 501(c)(3) nonprofit to push for answers and solutions.

Our group has grown quickly as more residents join us, all dealing with the same disruptions and determined to protect our community’s right to peace and quiet.

For decades, we coexisted peacefully with Long Beach Airport—but in the past two years, everything changed. A flood of small training aircraft now fly low over our neighborhoods, often performing nonstop touch-and-go operations seven days a week.

The impact on California Heights, Bixby Knolls and all surrounding neighborhoods has been devastating.

We’ve tried to address this through every channel available, but our elected officials have said their hands are tied and have done very little if anything to help the communities that elected them that’s why we’re asking for your support. Donations will go directly toward hiring an attorney specializing in aviation, eminent domain, land use, and environmental law. This fund will remain open as our legal needs continue.
