Hello everyone,

So in April of next year I will be running (walking for a bit) the London marathon for St Barnabas House Hospice in Worthing. Running a marathon has always been on my bucket list so to be asked to do it for St Barnabas in the renowned London marathon is really a dream come true.

The reason I chose St Barnabas is because in February of 2023 they provided end of life care to my amazing Nana as she sadly lost her battle to cancer. There wasn’t anything that our Nana wouldn’t do for us, she was the most kindest, caring and strong woman you could ever meet. The care my Nana and our family received from the team at St Barnabas House Hospice in Worthing was nothing short of amazing. In such a difficult time for us all, knowing my Nana was being cared for so lovingly in her last days, just like she did for us all during her better days, made it much easier for me and my family.

In October 2013, my family also lost my Auntie Melanie, my Nana’s daughter, to cancer and again she was cared for at St Barnabas House Hospice in Worthing. Just like her mum, my Auntie Melanie was so loving, generous and caring and is missed deeply by us all.

The staff at the hospice went above and beyond for our family on both occasions, they supported us through an incredibly difficult time and helped us to say goodbye to two much loved women taken too soon by a horrible disease. So this is my way of saying thank you to them, and to run in memory of those two very special women, my Nana and Auntie Melanie.

St Barnabas House Hospice provides specialist palliative care to adults with life-limiting illnesses, both within the hospice and in the comfort of patients' own homes across West Sussex.

Patients are never charged for their care, but only a small part of the care costs are state funded. This means that the majority of the money has to be raised through voluntary donations from people in local communities.

If a marathon wasn’t enough, I will also be doing some other activities to raise as much money as I can. I’ll be hosting a 24 hour livestream on Twitch in November when the new Call of Duty game comes out, and other fun stuff to come!
